Access Platform
Enclave researchers access the Enclave using secure thin-client machines. Thin client machines are compact, energy efficient computers with all the dynamic user-experience of a PC—without the day to day complexities and risks associated with one. Thin clients have no moving parts. Their service lives are extended beyond those of comparable PCs and the noise from fans and hard drives is eliminated. Thin client machines essentially turn the user’s “home” session into a remote terminal with limited processing and data storage capabilities, thus reducing the risk of security breach and/or nefarious tampering. Additionally, every thin client machine contains information like the MAC address or CPU signature that can be used to define a unique signature and ensure that the user is indeed using a specifically approved system.
